Rock & Metal Bars Near Nippon Budokan

Nippon Budokan was built for judo at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, hosted The Beatles in 1966, and has lent its name to more "Live at Budokan" albums than anyone can count. For many overseas fans it is a pilgrimage in itself. After the encore, the classic move is a single subway ride to the rock bars of Shinjuku.

Getting there from the venue

  • The nearest station is Kudanshita (Tokyo Metro Tozai and Hanzomon lines, Toei Shinjuku Line).
  • The Toei Shinjuku Line runs straight to Shinjuku-sanchome and Shinjuku in about 10 minutes, with no transfer. Most of the Shinjuku bars below are around there.
  • For Roppongi (Minato ward), take the Hanzomon Line from Kudanshita to Aoyama-itchome and change to the Toei Oedo Line for one stop. A taxi takes about 15 minutes.
